Introduction
Keyframes are used to change the properties of a video or audio effect over time. Properties value will gradualy change in between keyframes.
Clip Keyframe
Clip Keyframes are clip based. Keyframes follow the clip because they belong with the clip. These keyframes are the same keyframes that you would add in the Effect Controls panel. To create clip keyframe on audio track
- Open an audio track in Timeline.
- Hover mouse over the volume band on the Timeline.
- Hold Ctrl (Command) and plus sign appear at the bottom on Pointer.
- Click to add keyframe. Alternatively the Pen Tool to add keyframe.
To delete a keyframe, select the keyframe and hit Delete key.
Track Keyframe
Track keyframes are added to the track and not the clip. Clip keyframes are deleted when associated clip is deleted. Track keyframe stay with the track and apply to any clip added to that track at that point in time. To create track keyframe on audio track
- Open an audio track in Timeline.
- Expand the track until Show Keyframes icon appear as shown in below image.
- Select Track Keyframes as shown in below image.
- Hold Ctrl (Command) and plus sign appear at the bottom on Pointer.
- Click to add keyframe. Alternatively the Pen Tool to add keyframe.
Adding Keyframe Using Effect Controls
A keyframe at the playhead can be added using Effect Controls panel. To access this panel, go to Window > Effect Controls. To add keyframe
- Select a clip on the Timeline Panel
- Open the Effect Control panel.
- Toggle Animation button in the Effect Controls panel to activate the keyframing process.
- To add multiple keyframes, move the playhead and click on Add/Remove keyframe button
Showing Keyframe
To show the active keyframes
- Click the Wrench icon in the Timeline panel
- Select Show Video Keyframes for displaying video keyframes.
- Select Show Audio Keyframesfor displaying audio keyframes.
Delete Keyframes
A keyframe can be delete from either Effect Controls or a Timeline panel. To delete keyframes
- Select keyframes by clicking on it and choose Edit > Clear. Alternatively press Delete key. To select multiple keyframes, hold Shift key and then click with the Selection tool or the Pen tool in a Timeline panel.
- Navigate the current-time indicator to the keyframe and click the Add/Remove Keyframe button.
- To delete all keyframes for an effect, click the Toggle Animation button to the left of the name of the effect or property.
