Introduction

Track Select Tools are used to move portion of media on the Timeline. It provides safe way to move tracks on the timeline while preserving their order in relation to one another. It is located on left side of the timeline panel as shown in the below image. Keyboard shortcut for Track Select Forward Tool is A and Track Select Backward Tool is Shift + A.

Track Select Forward

To enable, click on the Track Select Forward Tool icon as shown in above image. Click the first clip that you want moved on the timeline. All clips to the right of selected clip including the one you clicked are selected. Now drag the selected clip to move right on the timeline. This tool will not move any assets located on locked track. To move one frame at a time, hold down Alt (Command) key and press left arrow (←) or right arrow (→) key.  For moving five frame at a time, hold down Alt (Command)  + Shift key and press left arrow (←) or right arrow (→) key.

Track Select Backward

To enable, click on the Track Select Backward Tool icon as shown in above image. Click the first clip that you want moved on the Timeline. All clips to the left of selected clip including the one you clicked are selected. Now drag the selected clip to move left in the timeline panel. This tool, however, will not move any assets located on locked track. To move one frame at a time, hold down Alt (Command) key and press left arrow (←) or right arrow (→) key.  For moving five frame at a time, hold down Alt (Command)  + Shift key and press left arrow (←) or right arrow (→) key.
