Introduction

Markers allows to identify specific times in clips and sequences. It helps in remembering useful shot and stay organized. Any markers that were added to a source clip before it was added to the Timeline will also appear in the Timeline. Markers that are added only to the Timeline, will not be added to the source clips.

Marker panel (Window > Markers) shows all the markers in an open clip or sequence. It also shows details associated with clips such as color coded tags, In points, Out points, and comments.

Timeline Markers

To add marker on timeline:

  • Open a sequence on the Timeline
  • Set the playhead to the moment where you want to add Marker
  • To add marker at playhead, go to Marker > Add Marker. Alternatively press M key.
  • A green marker is added to the Timeline, just above the playhead. Go to Marker > Edit Marker to change settings.

Below image shows added marker on Timeline. Marker panel list all the marker added along with associated properties. To edit marker setting, double-click on the thumbnail for the marker in the Markers panel.

Clip Markers

To add marker on a clip

  • Open clip on Source Monitor.
  • Set the playhead to the moment where you want to add Marker.
  • To add marker at playhead, go to Marker > Add Marker. Alternatively press M key.
  • A green marker is added to the Source Monitor, just above the playhead. Go to Marker > Edit Marker to change settings.
  • When clips with markers are added to a sequence, they retain their markers on Timeline.

Navigate using Markers

Click on a marker in Marker panel to go to the marked In point. To move around marker

  • For next marker, go to Markers > Go to Next Marker
  • To navigate to previous marker, go to Markers > Go to Previous Marker.
  • To jump between markers, select a marker in the Markers Panel and press the up and down arrow keys.

Delete Markers

A marker can be deleted by:

  • To clear a marker, go to Markers > Clear Selected Marker.
  • To clear all the markers, go to Markers > Clear All Markers. It will remove all sequence markers and all clip markers on selected clips.
