Introduction

Guides and Rulers are used to align titles and graphics in video editing workflow. To show guides, go to View > Show Guides. Activate Rulers under View > Show Rulers. Snapping is useful when working with guides and rulers. To enable snapping,  go to View >  Snap in Program Monitor. Below image shows above setting

Adding Rulers

To add ruler

  • Create a sequence from media.
  • Select the program monitor by clicking on it.
  • Go to View > Show Rulers

Below image shows the program monitor when ruler is enabled. To change the unit of the ruler, right click on it and select desired unit as shown in the below figure.

Adding Guide

To add guide

  • Create a sequence from media.
  • Select the program monitor by clicking on it.
  • Go to View > Show Guides
  • Go to View > Guide Template > Safe Margins

To add custom guide go to View > Add Guide, or right-click on the Ruler. In the Add Guide dialogue box, set the parameters value. To lock guide, go to View > Lock Guides, to avoid accidentally moving any guide.

Below image shows guide on Program monitor. To remove the guide, drag the pointer as shown in the image to outside the program monitor.
