Introduction

A graphic style is a set of reusable appearance attributes. By saving this information in a graphic style, you store these attributes so that you can quickly and easily apply them to other objects later. To open Graphics Style panel, go to Window > Graphic Styles.

Create Graphic Style

If you already applied a combination of attributes to an object, store them as graphics style by dragging the selected object directly into the Graphic Styles panel. To rename it, double-click on the style and enter the name.  After you store a graphic style, simply select the object you want to apply the style to and then click the saved style in the Graphic Styles panel.

Update Graphic Style

One of the powerful aspects of a graphic style is that you can adjust the appearance of all objects with a graphic style applied by updating the graphic style. This allows you to make appearance changes to objects in a document by just editing the single object. To update existing graphics style

  • Open the Graphic Styles panel
  • While holding Option (macOS) or Alt (Windows) key, drag the object that contains the new appearance and drop it on top of the existing graphic style in the Graphic Styles panel.
  • After you update the graphic style, every object with that graphic style updates to match the new appearance of the object being used to update the graphic style.

Using libraries

Graphic style libraries are collections of preset graphic styles. To open a graphic style library go to Window > Graphic Style Libraries.
